Songs  for  Children

with Meera Chikhalikar & Tushar Bhatia

Childhood years are considered the formative and most important years when the foundation for a bright future is established. In a world that is increasingly getting westernized, where children are predominantly exposed only to commercial film music, a need is felt more than ever to introduce children to holistic and pure forms of music! Music is not merely a medium for entertainment; music provides a means for self-growth, personality development and developing listening and singing skills.

Swardhara is delighted to announce a unique concept called ‘Songs for Children’ comprising 12 sessions (2 batches) of musical compositions created specially for children! Through this series of music sessions, accomplished educators and artists, Meera Chikhalikar & Tushar Bhatia, will endeavor to introduce children to the different forms of music through songs that are appropriate for their age and are based on basic raags and taals. Children will be introduced to sargams, khayals, light songs, patriotic songs, shlokas and bhajans. These sessions will not only initiate children to different forms of music but also inculcate a reverence for our culture. The sessions will end with a performance* by all the participating children in front of an audience! (*Ticketed Performance) The details for the show will be announced separately.

1.    The highlight of these sessions is the approachable, easy to learn format ensuring that children develop new skills, appreciate different forms of music and have fun while learning it.

2.    Children will also learn how to support each other, work as a team, rehearse for a performance and put up a show.

3.    The benefits of learning and understanding music range from improved concentration, focus and imagination, along with overall emotional and personal development.
