Workshop on “How to use Right to Information in your day-to-day life” organised by Moneylife Foundation’s RTI Centre in Pune


Moneylife Foundation’s RTI Centre has organised a free workshop on 16th December in Pune where renowned activists Vijay Kumbhar, Qaneez Sukhrani, Tanmay Kanitkar and Vinita Deshmukh will guide on using Right to Information in our day-to-day lives    

Mumbai, 12 December 2017
: Moneylife Foundation’s RTI Centre has organised a free workshop on Saturday, 16th December 2017 in Pune for helping people to use Right to Information (RTI) in their day-to-day lives. Renowned RTI activists Vijay Kumbhar (Founder of Surajya Sangharsh Samiti), Qaneez Sukhrani (Member, Managing Committee, MC Member, Nagrik Chetna Manch, Tanmay Kanitkar (President, Parivartan) and Vinita Deshmukh (Author and Consulting Editor, Moneylife) will guide on using Right to Information for obtaining information on various issues like roads, water supply, traffic and several other. 


This free workshop is organised at Ex-Fergussonian Hall, Main Gate - Fergusson College, Pune on 16th December 2017 between 11am to 1pm. The Workshop is open to students, citizens, RTI activists and all those who are interested in knowing much of it. Entry is free but prior registration is required. RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar has used the RTI Act very effectively for exposing several illegal constructions, corruption and land deals. He uses writing and lectures to make people aware about RTI Act and its effective usage. Every Sunday, he runs a 'Mahiti Adhikar Katta' (RTI Discussion) at Chittaranjan Vatika at Pune.


Qaneez Sukhrani, a social activist is a managing committee member with Nagrik Chetana Manch, a citizens’ forum and also a RTI Activist. She works to curb the menace of begging mafia and has been keenly pursuing this issue with the union and state government since past several years.


Tanmay Kanitkaris the President of NGO ‘Parivartan’, which represents politically and socially active citizens. They work at governance level and aim to improve the functioning of government, which includes politicians, bureaucrats and the common people. Tamnay through Parivartan utilises RTI effectively for the better governance.


Vinita Deshmukh, who is moderating the panel discussion and guidance, is consulting editor of Moneylife, an RTI activist and convener of the Pune Metro Jagruti Abhiyaan. She has compiled and edited a book, 'Milestone 7: Journey of RTI Act' for YASHADA. Vinita is recipient of prestigious awards like the Statesman Award for Rural Reporting, which she won twice in 1998 and 2005, and the Chameli Devi Jain award for outstanding media person for her investigation series on Dow Chemicals. She co-authored the book, “To The Last Bullet - The Inspiring Story of A Braveheart - Ashok Kamte”, with Vinita Kamte, and is the author of “The Mighty Fall” and "Grieving To Healing".
