In celebration of World Music day, Faye Monteiro, soprano and Nadine Crasto, pianist, bring to you a presentation of Art songs and Opera arias, in association with Furtados.

Experience an evening with Western Classical music in German, French, Italian and English.

Faye Monteiro, Soprano

Faye Monteiro, is a Western Classical singer - performer and teacher who has performed in India and internationally. She has completed the ATCL examination in Singing and Grade 8 in Piano. She began training in Western Classical singing at the age of 11 with Marianne D'cruz. She then went on to study with other reputed teachers in India and internationally – Celia Lobo, Deirdre Lobo, Patricia Rozario, Edda Moser. She is currently mentored by Lourdes Martins, an opera singer who resides in Italy.

As a soprano soloist, Faye has performed at cultural events and music festivals like the Monte Music Festival (Goa) and the Italian music festival organized by Circolo Italiano (Goa). She has also collaborated with the Haydn Baryton trio (Budapest, Hungary) in Goa.

She was the Vocal Mentor as well a Lead Teacher in Piano at Furtados School of Music at Bombay Scottish School, Mahim. She was also the Western Classical Vocal Teacher at the Kala Academy in Goa teaching students from 8 years to 35 years of age.

A former journalist at the Times of India, Mumbai, Faye enjoys learning languages, and reading up on music, culture & life in her spare time. She currently shares her joy for singing through one-on-one vocal lessons in the city.


Nadine Crasto, Pianist

Nadine Crasto began learning the piano at the age of 9 under the tutelage of Myrna Fernandes. She graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Piano Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, London, studying under Colin Stone. She studied harpsichord with Carole Cerasi and performed anachronistic chamber works on various historical instruments during her studies in London. Nadine was awarded the Nancy Dickinson Award and the Greta Parkinson Award for good work, conduct and general achievement at the Royal Academy. She completed the LTCL Examination in 2009 at the age of 17 and received two awards for the ATCL Examination the previous year, having achieved the highest marks in Mumbai.

She has participated twice in the All-India MusicQuest Competition achieving gold seals and winning first place in the Jazz and Popular Music section in 2011. She gave a piano recital at the NCPA Stopgaps Young Talent which received much acclaim, and has been performing at solo and chamber music concerts in London and across India.                                                                           

Nadine has trained, conducted and composed vocal arrangements for choirs, preparing them for competitions and performances since the age of 16. She also gives private piano lessons and prepares students for music exams, competitions and performances. A number of her students have achieved distinctions and won prizes.
